A Product of My Neglect...

I know winter is pretty much over, but I recorded a winter look-book a while back and it wouldn't be fair if I didn't share it with you all. It features what I call statement pieces. The idea being that you can take any outfit from simple to remarkable by throwing in one element that is sure to stand out: a glamorous scarf, a varsity jacket, a chunky necklace...the list is endless. Check it out below:

Outfit Details

Sweater & Tunic (worn cropped): Dots
Leggings: Fashion Bug
Boots: Wet Seal
Scarf: Thrifted from the mom

Look 3:
DST Cardigan: JC Penny (Men's)...custom made
Leggings: Dress Barn

Look 4:
Blouse: Lane Bryant
Jeans: Fashion Bug
Oxfords: Target

A New Outlook...

To slit, or not to slit...

For a long time I really believed that long, thigh-high slits in dresses and skirts are not worth the risk. I always get this image of it being done no justice - looking a little too exposed, at times cheap and unfashionable. HOWEVER, I have been inspired as of late by beautiful double slit designs that have been styled in uber chic manners. Here are a few photos that I've noted in my glam-book:

THIS IS SIMPLY A BEAUTY!

Urban Outfitters Ecote Double Slit Maxi Skirt ($69 | up to size 12 but there's a lot of stretch)

No one can seem to figure out who Teyana Taylor's dress is by but get a similar look with this Naomi Naderge Summer Ends Double Split Maxi ($98 | up to size XXL)
I have no idea who designed this but it's EVERYTHING!
Maggy London Iridescent Jersey Maxi Dress ($74 | Now Sold Out at Nordstrum :S )
I'm sure it can still be tracked down online however; it's perfect for a simple, demure display of the double slit trend.

MY, MY, MY...I rescind my ill thoughts against the double slit in my earlier life. I am now in love. What do you think?

Rue 114

I have been meaning to write this post for so long now :( Excuse me for my tardiness.

I'm in love with Rue 114; as if the name isn't enough to garner your attention immediately! I have been eyeing this clothing line for months and am thoroughly impressed. I think the website states it best in describing the line as "created for women who believe that every shape and size should be celebrated as beautiful". Their intro collection (available in sizes 2 -22), "Et Dieu Créa La Femme" (And God Created Woman), in my opinion somehow manages to flatter the physique of all women regardless of shape or size. The Founder of Rue 21, Serwah Asante, boldly and intelligently fuses her Ghanaian-American upbringing with NYC glam that is to die for! Luscious material, African print, thoughtful design, figure hugging silhouettes - what more is there one would want!

And as if it couldn't get any better the, the collection is modeled by both a standard and plus sized model. How many times have you shopped online at a store that has extended sizes but no pictures of how the fit would look on a woman larger than size 6/8....Check out the pics/links below:

The "Shimmy On Over" Pencil Skirt in Navy

Magnifique!!! The price range for the collection is a little pricey (not ridiculously) but considering the make, fabric, print, fit, and quality, it's understandable. Though I plan on splurging eventually, my recent college grad budget restricts me from ordering individual pieces like these for right now - except for  important dates (weddings, birthday (MINE), you know life altering circumstances). Will you be buying soon?

Moji

p.s. Did you spot plus size model Allison McGevna in the pics above! Love her blog and her! Such an inspiration! Check her out:  http://alliemcgev.blogspot.com/

Glamspiration!

Hey there!

I have been loving this beaded bracelet trend that EVERYONE has been rocking lately. I have always loved beaded bracelets but several stacked together in bright and vibrant colors with beautiful gold and silver pendants hanging off of them, I can't help myself! I will most certainly be stacking bracelets like this for spring/summer. It looks like ART!

ART I tell you, ART! The Honesty Jewelry bracelets are my favorite, honestly lol. Click the links below the photos to check out more from the collections and to find out prices. Now, I will say this whole stacking thing may get really pricey, the Simmons DEF Malachite bracelet retails for about $125 but is on sale for $84. A single Honesty bracelet retails for $67. The Lola James Razzle Dazzle bracelets are more price conscious retailing for $15 a piece. I feel a DIY project coming up soon...

Girl Crush: Tika Sumpter

"...had to let you know that I got a crush on you.."
- the one and only Lil' Kim

Todays Girl Crush is a must that I feature actress Tika Sumpter. Whether you know her from her role on One Life to Live or her guest starring spots on The Game and Gossip Girl, you must admit the girl has style! Tika is definitely making her mark on the red carpet and everywhere else. I love her because you can easily see that she doesn't just dress according to trends but is bold with color and design, fierce in wardrobe and cosmetic choices and takes risks...the girl does her thing! As a beautiful deep-chocolate sister setting an example for the many women who look like her but are not as often represented in the media, she's stunting on these others chicks and showing them how. I admire her! See for yourself below:

Look familiar lol?

 Hey Loves,

This season and into summer, spice up your life with a little bit of lace. The great thing about it is you can wear it in moderation or in excess if you'd like. Buy a dress with lace detail, wear lacewith a solid layer underneath, wear a garment with lace-trim...lace up your outfits however much you want lol. Here are a few lace pieces that I've been scoping out on my never-ending cyber-window shopping journeys. Click for the links below.

Spring! My Dear Spring, Please Come Back!

Hey Ladies,

I don't know what is going on with this weather! I live in the Northeast and have spent my entire life withstanding frigid winters and beautiful fall, summer and spring seasons. However, last winter never really came - it was more like a long fall. Spring seemed to arrive early but it only lasted for a short while and 'fall' came back. Please Spring...with your nice warm and breezy weather please come back. Please Spring...Come Back!! Only when you come back can I wear beautiful bold outfits like the one below:

Glam-Book: Do you have one?

So for a few days I have been thinking about what I should next or the topics I should be covering in my posts. I eventually realized that I started this blog as an extension of me - wanting to share my love for all things glamour while learning from others by reading their blogs/vlogs and learning about their thoughts/ideas/expressions of hair, fashion, makeup, and everything else. All that aside I figured, I need not think too much about what to post, just share me! So the first thing I thought was let me share my Glam-Book - PURE INSPIRATION.
I'm pretty sure that every girl out there has some form of a Glam-Book and if you don't then please start one NOW! My Glam-Book (which I'm sure may go by a different name for anyone that has one) contains pictures of outfits, makeup looks, hair styles, wedding-planning ideas (as if I'm getting married soon - s.m.h.) decoration ideas, Vendors (hair companies, accessories dealers, online boutiques), and everything else that inspires me. I get happy and excited looking at the pictures featured!!! Here's a snapshot of my Glam-Book that I update using Microsoft Office's OneNote:

Do any of you have a similar Or different version of your own Glam-Book?

Bold Kisses,
Moji
